Multiple file tabs
Create, open, rename, switch, and close several documents in one private workspace. Only the active tab is included when you intentionally create a share link.
Write, review, and organize code or notes in a capable Monaco editor that runs in your browser, supports multiple tabs, and keeps your workspace on your device.
Verso Pad Online Editor is a browser-based workspace for source code, configuration, documentation, and everyday notes. It uses the same Monaco editing engine familiar to users of Visual Studio Code, providing syntax highlighting, bracket matching, undo and redo, line and column information, and comfortable editing without requiring an account or installation. Open several documents in tabs, switch between them as you work, and return later in the same browser to continue from locally restored content.
The editor is useful when a full development environment would be unnecessary or unavailable. You can inspect a downloaded script, draft a SQL query, clean up Markdown, prepare a configuration file, or keep a temporary technical note from any modern desktop or mobile browser. Files selected with Open are read locally by the browser. They are not uploaded to Verso Pad, and saving a file creates a download directly from the current browser session.
Language selection controls syntax highlighting for JavaScript, TypeScript, JSON, Python, Go, HTML, CSS, Markdown, YAML, XML, SQL, shell scripts, Java, C, C++, C#, PHP, Ruby, Rust, Kotlin, Swift, Dockerfiles, and plain text. Renaming a file automatically chooses a suitable language when its extension is recognized, while the manual selector lets you override that choice for snippets or files without extensions.
When collaboration is needed, Share creates a compressed link for the active tab only. The document text, filename, and language are stored in the URL fragment rather than sent to an application database. A recipient opens a read-only shared view and can choose to edit a separate copy. Other tabs, locally stored documents, and browser history are not included in the shared snippet.

Use reliable syntax highlighting, cursor tracking, bracket coloring, word wrapping, undo, redo, and familiar editor behavior across many common programming languages.
Open text and code files from your device and download edited copies. The browser reads the selected files locally instead of transferring them to Verso Pad.
Open tabs and document contents are restored in the same browser using local storage, making short sessions and recurring scratch work easier to continue.
Create an editor.versopad.com link containing a compressed copy of the active document. The link can be reviewed without executing the code.
Use light, dark, or system theme behavior so the editor fits the display preference of the device without changing the document itself.
The shared link contains the snippet rather than a server-side document identifier. Opening it never runs the code, and documents in your other tabs remain private.
No. The browser reads selected text files locally. Your document reaches another person only when you deliberately create and send a share link, whose fragment contains the compressed active document.
Only the active tab at the moment you press Share. The filename, selected language, and text from other tabs are not added to the link.
The workspace is saved in local browser storage and normally returns in the same browser and profile. Clearing site data, using private browsing, or changing devices removes or separates that local copy, so download important work.
No. It is designed for writing, viewing, formatting, and sharing text and source code. It does not execute arbitrary programs, which keeps the editor focused and avoids silently running shared snippets.
